Mirchi Bhajji

"Uff uff mirchiii"..... I love "mirchi" (chilli). Hot, colorful, flavourful and crisp chillies!
Both of us like those stuffed "mirchi bhaji"s like anything! I make them often as afternoon snack. For me, it's more than enough to spice up a boring afternoon! Only what I need is a cup of "adrakwali chay"!
It's really easy and tasty snack. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients for "Mirchi Bhajji":

  1. Large chilli (those are generally used for stuffing) 8 pieces
  2. Potato 2 medium (boiled and peeled)
  3. Onion 1 (finely chopped)
  4. Hot chilli 2 (finely chopped)
  5. Coriander leaves 2-3 table spoon (finely chopped)
  6. Gram flour / besan  1 cup
  7. Rice flour 2 table spoon
  8. Baking soda 1 pinch
  9. Carom seed/ ajwain 1/2 tea spoon
  10. Dry mango powder/ aamchur 1/2 tea spoon
  11. Chilli powder 1/2 tea spoon
  12. Salt according to taste
  13. Refined oil enough for deep frying

How to prepare "Mirchi Bhajji":
  • Wash chillies and make them dry with a kitchen towel. Make a long cut on each of them lengthwise. Take out seeds and everything. Keep aside.
  • Take a large bowl. Smash potatoes. Add chopped onion, chilli, coriander leaves. Add salt, dry mango powder. Mix well to make the stuffing.
  • Stuff this stuffing carefully inside each chilli.
  • Take a separate bowl and add gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, salt, ajwain, baking soda. Mix well. Now add little water water and make a smooth, lump-free batter. Batter will not be very thick or watery.
  • Heat oil in a deep-frying pan. Dip the chillies in batter and fry them until crisp and go over medium heat.
  • Serve immediately with your preferred chutney. I served with kasundi. :)
