Prawn Cocktail

"Good things are difficult"...says who!!  Well not always!!
The biggest headache to me about arranging a party is .."what to make for appetizer??????"
I love different items but surely hassle-free things. Few days back I had this one at Paromita di's place and absolutely loved this excellent dish. This is attractive, delicious, time saver and extremely easy!!It can be an awesome appetizer for any party! I thought it's gonna be some cocktail with prawn and it seemed very weird (:-O) to me...definitely it is not. And the look was killer ..and somebody has said it rightly..."first impression is the last impression"!!
Not much cooking...just to gather some ingredients and mix them up gently..that's all. Sounds good enough ..isn't it!!

  1. Prawn 12-14 pieces (de-shelled, de-veined ...only leave the tails..washed and cleaned)
  2. Cucumber 1 small
  3. Green/black olive 2 pieces (cut into rings...this is optional )
  4. Lettuce 1 bunch
  5. Lemon slice and few drop juice
  6. Chives few pinch (dried or fresh...optional)
  7. Mayonnaise 4-5 table spoon
  8. Tomato sauce 1 table spoon
  9. Worcestershire sauce 1 table spoon
  10. Horseradish sauce 1 tea spoon
  11. Tobasco sauce 1 or 2 splash
  12. Paprika 1 dash

How to proceed :
  • Boil prawns for 3 minutes in salt-water (you can blanch them..even some use it raw. But I am not very much comfortable with raw fish.)
  • Take a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise and all 4 types sauces. Also add few drops lemon juice and chives (if using). Mix them very well. And the sauce is ready.

  • Mix cooked prawns with the sauce and refrigerate 4-5 hours.
  • Mix cucumber slice/dice and olive rings (if using) with the prawn mixture.
  • Arrange lettuce on your serving bowl/glass (use martini glass if possible).
  • Arrange prawn mixture on lettuce and garnish beautifully.
  • Lastly dust little paprika and top with lemon slice.

Voila!!! It's done!!What are you waiting for.....Let's start a great evening!! :D
