Coffee Flan

am very new in baking. it's always been  fascinating to me. And now, when I bought my new OTG, trying to be bit familiar with this immensely interesting part- Baking & Grilling!! So trying my novice hand with easiest yet yummy baking items. And this is of course one of them. Sharing an easy & yummy coffee flan recipe.

  1. 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (I didn't use extra sugar ..as condensed milk is enough sweet...you can use 1 table spoon if you want it more sweet)
  2. 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  3. 1/4 cup whole milk
  4. 1 tea spoon instant coffee mixed with 2 tea spoon warm water
  5. 1 large egg
  6. Vanilla extract 1/2 tea spoon
  7. 4 tea spoon sugar (kept separately)
  8. Hot water
  9. For garnishing..1/4 cup thickened cream, 1 table spoon icing sugar & grated chocolate.

  • Whisk egg with sugar (if using...otherwise whisk only egg) until sugar is dissolved.
  • Heat a pan in medium-high heat and add 4 tea spoon sugar and 2 tea spoon water..keep stirring it and make a beautiful brown caramel.
  • Pour the caramel into desired molds.

  • Preheat your oven to 160'C .
  • Add 3 type of milk in the same pan and boil for very few minutes.
  • Turn the gas off and let it cool add with the egg mix once it come to a lukewarm temperature.
  • Add vanilla extract and coffee with that mixture.
  • Mix well and pour into the molds.

  • Set the molds in a baking tray and feel the tray with hot water until it comes halfway of the molds. This process is known as "water-bath".
  • Set the tray carefully in the middle rack of oven and bake for 30 min or until done.

  • Cool it and refrigerate for 5-6 hours once it comes to room temperature.
  • Carefully unmold on serving plates.
  • Now whip the cream with icing sugar and spread over your flan.
  • Finally garnish with grated chocolate and serve.
